Journal of Economic Research (Tahghighat-E-Eghtesadi) (JTE) is the first academic journal in the field of Economics in Iran, published by Faculty of Economics of University of Tehran quarterly since 1961. The first two issues of JTE were published in one book by supporting some early economists, i.e. Dr. Moosa Amid, Dr. Pirnia, Dr. Amoozgar, Dr. Zandi Haghighi, etc. The contents of the first issues were original papers, findings of Faculty’s research groups, and reports of economic events. The number of papers in each issue was different, exceeded to 15 papers in some issues. Slowly but surely, journal of Economic Research received the attention of domestic and international academic circles, to the degree that it published the papers of some prominent foreign economists. While journal of Economic Research published 38 issues until 1978, it stopped working because the Revolution.

In 1987, Dr. Mansoor Khalili Araghi, as the dean of Faculty, resumed the issuance. Until 1991, journal of Economic Research (Tahghighat- E- Eghtesadi) had been published one time per year with 7 papers in autumn. Afterward, the number of issues increased to two issues per year. Since 2004, journal Economic Research has been published quarterly with 10 papers in each issue. Now, journal of Economic Research is publishing high quality peer-reviewed papers, written often by domestic academicians and researchers.

The policy of Editorial Board is accepting high quality original and reviewed papers in all branches of Economics. The papers are reviewed by at least two internal and external domestic reviewers. journal of Economic Research is an open access journal. All of the published papers are accessible via the address http://jte.ut.ac.ir/.
